I read something interesting recently about how a mom and her daughter worked together to clean the house. She started training her daughters from the day they were born. She started with them in one of those baby slings, and she did all of her work around the house. I was so inspired after reading that story.
Last night I called out to Sweetpea and asked him if he wanted to help me do the dishes. He said joyously "YES!" and brought the grey stool over to the kitchen sink. I gave him the job of putting the dishes into the dish drainer (I am a lucky wife who does not have a dishwasher). I did not just let him put the dishes in the drainer. I gave him instruction on where I put the plates, bowls, and cups. After we did the dishes, he picked all the toys off of the floor so I could sweep it. Then he held the dustpan for me. It made my night time cleaning lots of fun!
We did our little cleaning ritual again tonight. He loves it and unknown to him, he is learning. He is learning how to order things (I wash plates first, then bowls, then cups, then silverware), he is learning how to count (he counts the dishes). He also learning how to joyfully take care of a home. I know I am preparing him to make his future bride a very happy bride. It makes me feel so wonderful!! :D I will have a picture to share one of these days. Can't wait to show how cute he is helping me :D.
Here are some 2 year olds helping stories and stuff I found on the net:

My 19 mo. old daughter loves to help me sweep the floor. She enjoys it so much that my husband bought her a miniature broom and dust pan set so she can sweep the floor and the porch any time she wants. She also loves to dust with a cloth. I spray a little polish on the furniture and she rubs her dust cloth across the furniture just like she sees me do. She's kind of a rag girl. Anytime she sees me with a rag cleaning something, she wants to help. You're right, it does make cleaning a lot more fun. :)
