Mr. Kyle's Photoshoot

By his4ever - Posted on 17 June 2008

I was blessed to do a photoshoot of our good friend Mr. Kyle. I had so much fun and got to figure more things out related to lighting! Click to read more!!

The clouds were another picture. The original sky was blown out and not very interesting. I think going dramatic here really helps.

He wanted to do this. We had lots of fun here. I made sure to have the whole background be grass. It was easy to do this because we were ontop of a hill.

Rembrandt lighting. I think I got it? I like the picture still. I was trying really hard to get that triangle on the other side of his face. I used natural light from the window in my kitchen. It the new place where I have deiced to take pictures. There is just not enough room in my living room to do this, and I cannot get close enough to a window for natural light.

This one was just a test... but I liked it too much. We started to use my bounce flash here with the window still open. I wanted my flash to act as a fill light and the window light as a key light... but I have a cheap flash and I could not power it down enough to do it. I really need some filters. (some NDs would help, and I would not mind a warming filter too!).

Critique and comments are greatly appreciated! I have this blog so I can learn!! Thanks for looking!

The photos look good. It's actually nice to see my brother all nice and dressed up.

As an artist, Some of the photos are very strong, especially the last one. I would like to see some different.. more dynamic angles and expressions. Also, keep in mind the rule of thirds in your photography.
