First Biblical Blog entry :D

For the past few months My Beloved and I have been reading 5 verses from Provers about twice a day to Sweetpea. It's been good for him, in the way that he is learning about how to be wise in life, and good for us too! You should not read the book of Proverbs really fast. There is so much in there, it's amazing what you find when you read it slowly!

Tonight we are almost done Proverbs 31. Although Sweetpea is only 2 and a half, it was a good lesson in teaching him what a Godly wife should be like, and a good lesson for me too. The verse that jumped out to me tonight was :

She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. Prov. 31:17

That is something I have been struggling with. I am physically weak. I cannot sit up streight. I cannot even open a jar without assistance. I am pitiful! Also, I have a hard time waking up at 7am.

I am determined to keep exercising this week and the next few months. I am also changing my eating lifestyle, and I will do the 100 push up challenge... tomorrow. I will start again, with the new morning. I want to be like the Prov. 31 woman, I need to be stronger, for my family, and for me.

Here is Matthew Henry's thoughts on this verse:

She does what she does with all her might, and does not trifle in it (v. 17); She girds her loins with strength and strengthens her arms; she does not employ herself in sitting work only, or in that which is only the nice performance of the fingers (there are works that are scarcely one remove from doing nothing); but, if there be occasion, she will go through with work that requires all the strength she has, which she will use as one that knows it is the way to have more.

Let me know your thoughts on this! Think I missed the mark? Think I nailed it on the head? Let me know with a comment below!

Praise God that you're striving to be who God wants you to be! I could certainly stand to benefit, and so could my wife, if I were to be more serious about committing to being who God wants me to be.

My wife and I sat down together to read through the "Five Love Languages" and we were both very surprised at the results. I was pretty certain I know what mine were until we read the book. If you haven't done this with your husband, it's a great thing to do! One of these days, my wife and I will finish it and spend more time in devotion together.

Actually, I never read the book, but My Beloved has and so has his parents (and I think my parents too). I have to remind myself constantly what his love languages are, cause they are really different from mine! Now that Sweetpea is 2.5, I am beginning to see his love languages too,(he's a quality time sort of kid). Thanks for the thought!! I needed to be reminded about that! :D

I was surprised to see them in my 3 year old daughter. It's amazing to think that those things develop so early in life.

Quality time is mine and my daughters. Acts of service is my wife's, I believe. Unfortunately, we didn't finish the book!

His, I love your blog! It's funny, I used to want nice toned arms so I would have nice looking arms. Now I realize that me being healthier and stronger would be beneficial over-all, and would make better use of the body God gave me. I don't have kids yet, but know I really oughta start working out more to prepare. :)
